To celebrate the release of Cinderella we visited the Cinderella exhibition in London’s Leicester Square presented by Swarovski. This free exhibition presented both the costumes and the props from the set giving a real behind-the-scenes look into how the film was made.
Cinderella is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year and as a huge fan of all things Disney, and especially the story of Cinderella I couldn’t wait to visit! There were over 100 props from the set and over 30 stunning costumes from the film. The tour was a thoroughly enjoyable, interactive experience, taking us through Cinderella’s home and the grand ballroom. We especially loved the transformation from the pumpkin to the carriage!
1.7 million Swarovski crystals were used to add extra sparkle to the costumes. They also produced the iconic glass slippers that were used in the film which sparkled with a rainbow of colours.
There were also beautiful illustrations around the exhibition to show the full design process of the costume creations.
The film has also inspired a collection for MAC, including shimmering eyeshadows, pearl powders and nude enchanting shades of lipstick and tinted lipglass. The packaging is reflective of Cinderella’s beautiful pale blue ball gown.
