Raising awareness around body image

Over the last weekend something amazing happened in Piccadilly Circus, London. On Sunday afternoon, Jae West, stood in her underwear to bring awareness to body acceptance. Now I don’t know about you, but I am not overly keen about getting in a bikini by a swimming pool or on the beach, so the fact that this woman stood in one of the busiest tourist destinations in London was an absolute inspiration to me!

Jae, who has suffered with an eating disorder for much of her life, stood proud and strong holding a sign asking strangers to draw hearts on her naked body to bring awareness to those who had suffered with eating disorders and self-esteem issues.

I admit I have my own self-esteem issues as my weight does fluctuate which has probably been reflected in my anxiety issues in recent years. I am happy with my body though and comfortable in my own skin.  I’m truly proud of what Jae has achieved and I hope it encourages others in self-acceptance. You are beautiful!

  1. This was such a remarkable story! Jae is such a brave and inspirational person, I don’t think I could ever do what she did, so standing there practically naked for such a good cause will never cease to amaze me! Just wow! Xo
