On a sunny Sunday in Spring we headed over to Windsor for a day trip. It is only about a half an hour drive from where we live in West London and is the perfect setting for exploring and enjoying … Continue reading
On a very windy Saturday in early March I went along to the Chosen Wedding Fair at Islington Assembly Hall in London. I was welcomed by a fleet of white taxis with beautiful pink ribbons tied to them. Two friendly guys welcomed me to the event and provided me with a lovely goody bag with a bride to be sticker!
The venue was full of a range of exhibitors for all aspects of creating the perfect wedding. There were a variety of wedding photographers, decorations, hair accessories, photobooths, entertainment and floral arrangements, each hosted beautiful displays promoting their products and services.
One of the first exhibitors I spoke to was The Handmade Favour who produce beautiful dried flowers in rose gold frames that can be provided as wedding favours for guests. Every frame is unique with a different flower and available in a range of colours. When I arrived home I took a look through their website and saw that they provide a range of options for wedding favours and also home décor. They also produce beautiful envelopes with gorgeous floral patterns.
I love a photobooth so when I spotted a beautiful green backdrop with neon pink sign I had to pop by and say hello to the exhibitors! Prop Ltd provide ideal photobooths for events, enabling guests to have printouts or produce boomerang GIFs to share with friends and family. It seems like such a fun addition to any wedding or party and I loved the modern neon light look against the lush green backdrop.
Parrot & Pineapple are wedding photographers. I met with Rowan, of Parrot & Pineapple, on the day who was incredibly friendly and welcome. I was drawn to their beautiful images that are bold and colourful with a relaxed, documentary feel to them. I looked through a couple of gorgeous photo albums of recent weddings and their website is certainly worth a look if you are looking for your wedding photographer!
I have been on the lookout for a beautiful hairband or tiara as I would like to have my hair down on our wedding day which is my usual look. I spotted a few exhibitors at this particular wedding fair which included beautiful pearls that I would love to incorporate into my outfit. I find pearls so soothing as I always think of the sea when I look at them or wear them. I found a couple of wedding accessory suppliers at the Chosen Wedding Fair including Clare Lloyd Couture Bridal Accessories and Debbie Carlisle.
Loops and Letters provide a wonderful calligraphy service including envelope addressing, place cards and signage as well as custom orders such as wedding vows and menus. I absolutely love their place names written on pieces of driftwood and on gorgeous coloured stones. Definitely a unique idea which can be adapted to any wedding colours or themes.
I really enjoyed attending the Chosen Wedding Fair. There were such a great range of exhibitors to speak to and so many products available to get some great ideas and inspiration from. Chosen Wedding Fairs take place all over the UK. For more information on upcoming Chosen Wedding Fair events visit: https://www.chosenwedding.com/

An annual, prestigious event – The Met Gala – also known as the Met Ball, took place in New York last night, Monday 1st May 2017, to celebrate the grand opening to the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. There have been some fabulous themes every year and this year was no exception, celebrating the exhibition by Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.
It is known as one of the biggest fundraising events in the city and celebrities from all walks of life fly in to attend the event. Today I’m taking a look at those outfits which were a definite hit with some that were perhaps a little bit too intense.
My ultimate fave looks of the evening
Blake Lively – I literally cannot get enough of this stunning dress. Those of you who follow me on Instagram will know this was on my feed first thing this morning. A gold elegant dress, complete with bright blue feathers.
Kim Kardashian West – Pulling off simplicity in the most elegant form. She looks stunning.
Nicki Minaj – Always one to attend in a statement dress but this one was stunning.
Those standout looks
Rihanna – Yet again, she conquered the most talked about outfit of the night, but was she right to come walking in as a walking piece of art herself? I feel on this occasion she maybe took the theme a little too literally but everyone seemed to love it! I don’t dislike it but maybe I would have preferred the art to be inside the building rather than walking in.
Kendall Jenner – I have such a love/hate relationship with her dress which was apparently made using just one string. The front was gorgeous however when she turned around she left little to the imagination which I felt was a bit disappointing. She usually looks stunning in her outfit choices so I was a bit disappointed on this occasion.
To finish off I’ll leave you with my fave meme of the evening!
(Yes – that is Rihanna on Beyonce’s head)

For the last couple of years I have spent my holidays seeing Europe by train and trekking to gorgeous little towns around France and Italy. One of my particular favourites has had to be the town of Aix-Les-Bains, nestled quietly next to the towering Alps and the beautiful Lac Du Bourget in France.
The weather here can be changeable and on the couple of occasions I have visited it has been prone to some quite fantastic thunderstorms! More specifically after our arrival it seemed to pour with rain as soon as we’d walked into the hotel lobby! We also had a bbq one evening which resulted in a quick dash inside when the first spots of a heavy shower started to plop onto our plates.
For those who are keen cyclists the location is perfect and the nearby Chambery is the finishing point for Stage 9 of the 2017 Tour De France. Routes close to Aix-Les-Bains include Col Du Chat and the renowned Mont Du Chat, for those who would like more of a challenge and is also to be featured on the 2017 Tour de France.
For those who like to explore on two feet, I recommend taking a trip down to Lac Du Bourget and what better way to get there than by miniature train which leaves the Hotel De Ville throughout the day. This is a perfect way to see the town – the commentary is mostly in French – but it is still wonderful to see the beautiful scenery on the way down to the lakeside. Once by the lake you have the opportunity to walk for miles, there are lovely areas to sit and relax as well as wonderful bars and restaurants which I’m sure would be open in an evening to watch the world go by.
Although there are not many chain stores here, it is a beautiful town to stroll around at a leisurely pace, visiting the various independent stores. I bought some stunning shoes in one of the stores – a gorgeous pair of pastel coloured wedges. I had a wonderful morning enjoying some retail therapy and planning my dream French maison!
If you are looking for a fabulous hotel in which to base yourself for the duration of your stay then definitely take a look at the Golden Tulip. With recently refurbished spa facilities it is the perfect place to relax and rest those aching feet from all that retail therapy. The large bar and reception area is perfect for chilling out – reading a book or catching up with the latest on the Tour De France on their widescreen TVs.
If you are looking for a town where you can truly practice your French. This is the place to go. I had quite an experience in a French lingerie shop where as it happened I had a brief lapse in remembering any French bar the words ‘tres chaud’ and manically trying to mime how hot the weather was outside.. fortunately the two French ladies were extremely excited about the fact that I was even attempting to speak their language – a very amusing experience by both parties involved!

Two beautiful cities, both beginning with V, and only 75 miles apart, 1 hour and 20 minutes by train. Two cities synonymous with romance and epic love stories, each filled with magical and mysterious tales. If you are staying at the nearby Lake Garda and you are interested in culture and city sightseeing they are the perfect addition to your visit whilst holidaying in the region.
I first fell in love with Venice when I visited on a school trip. I love the water, so to be able to explore a beautiful city literally floating on water was a dream in itself. With countless bridges, the lapping of water against stone walls and the beautiful balconies, there’s a vibe about this city that is so mysterious and magical. There is also a peacefulness that lingers over the city. Masks loom from independent shop windows and little pathways between tall houses break open into courtyards home to beautiful, pristine churches.
“Venice never quite seems real, but rather an ornate film set suspended on the water.” – Frida Giannini
The main difference between my first trip and my second, almost ten years later, was the full on tourist trap that is has become. I would say it’s a shame, but not for the people of Venice who of course would welcome tourism as a vital source for the economy. Whilst there is the odd tourist with a shiny new selfie stick looming on bridges and in gondolas on the canals, there is also a calmness and to even take one turning off the tourist track leads you to the serenity of residential Venice. For those who want the unique Italian experience, even just for a weekend, this would be the place to go.
“What about damp? What about flooding? Wouldn’t it make sense to have a little lawn or garden as a sort of buffer zone between the house and the water? But then it wouldn’t be Venice, said Connie’s voice in my head. Then it would be Staines.”- David Nicholls, Us
More recently I visited the gorgeous city of Verona. This ancient walled city was one that I had only briefly thought about visiting and now I am so glad that I had the opportunity. I am a huge fan of Romeo and Juliet, so to be able to visit Juliet’s balcony was a dream come true. It was truly incredible to see just how many names and padlocks were there, as well as the number of people that can fit in one courtyard! There’s so much love in the world but it seemed like it had all accumulated in this one place!
“Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.” – William Shakespeare, Romeo & Juliet
I was amazed at the stunning architecture of the city. Walking through the walls of the city it was amazing to see the cobbled streets and the huge Roman amphitheatre, Arena di Verona, towering over the city and its citizens and visitors, famous for its opera which fills with over 15,000 spectators per performance.
I was pleasently surprised by Verona and plan to return to this beautiful, intriguing city soon to explore it further. Would love to hear about any particular places you have explored in Verona! I’m looking for some more places to adventure to which are off the beaten track. Feel free to tweet me @prettyandpetit

If you are looking for gorgeous looking lashes and masterful make up tools I know just the place! I recently came across this stunning online shop, the Beauty Atelier, catering for your every beauty need.
I first discovered the Beauty Atelier on Twitter. They have such a fun feed and their logo in particular really stood out to me, being so colourful and vibrant. After complimenting them on their gorgeous lash collection they sent me the most gorgeous bundle of goodies to try, including fluttery long lashes and make up tools including sponge and face cleanser.
I was so excited to try the goodies out. I have not used sponges previously – opting for my trusty Real Techniques brush collection every time, but I must admit after using this sponge for the first time it has truly revolutionised how I do my make up from now on. It gives my skin such a flawless finish which as I am entering into Summer and coming out from hibernation will be perfect for those long Summer days in the sunshine.
To get to my ultimate fave part of the package. The Beauty Atelier sent me a range of gorgeous lashes to try including three beautiful sets of fluttery lashes. Along with three sets of Luxurious Silk lashes. These included #Romantic – perfect for that gorgeous date night, candlelit dinner, #Precious – perfect for that family reunion and making Auntie so jealous that you have lashes to die for and #Glamorous for those nights out with the girls, partying until dawn.
The packaging was great and shows off the product so well. I’ve found recently that I really dislike that packaging on lashes where you can’t see the full effect of what you are getting straight away – anyone agree? These are great though as they have solid clear packaging so you know they won’t get damaged and you know exactly what you are getting for your money.
I can’t wait to wear these over Summer alongside some cute outfit of the day looks so make sure you keep an eye on my instagram for upcoming pics!
If you’re looking for lashes for your next girly night out – this is definitely the place to go! At around £15 they are certainly value for money with such a gorgeous texture and a bold, unique look with the addition of a good lash glue they are guaranteed to see you through those Summer parties and outings!
For more information and to explore their amazing range of treats click below to visit their online shop and social media pages.

I’ve followed The Lifestyle Blogger UK for a little while now and I absolutely love the range of articles on her website. She includes so many useful articles from the latest list of Blogger Hashtag Hours (which are amazing for scheduling Twitter chats into my diary!) and the most delicious recipes including a Salted Caramel Brownie recipe (Yum!!)
So imagine my delight when I found out The Lifestyle Blogger UK also has her own gorgeous fashion boutique! The Lifestyle Blogger UK asked me to choose a product to review either a necklace or bracelet and as I favour one particular necklace at the moment I opted for a bracelet. At this point I had no idea what the bracelet would look like and it was quite nice to know there was a surprise coming in the post for me!
The bracelet arrived so promptly and safely wrapped so as to not get damaged in the post. It was wrapped in a gorgeous little packet with a “The Lifestyle Boutique” label attached. Inside was a pretty little organza bag (and as a quick top tip – don’t throw these away! They are perfect for using to carry earrings or other delicate jewellery on holiday in your suitcase!) This bag held a lovely gold and tan coloured bracelet.
I always find bracelets quite fiddly to put on. After all usually you need two hands to put them on, resulting on some sort of bizarre finger yoga movements in an effort to get the most delicate of bracelet on your wrist. This one however, was so easy and effortless. Due to the sturdy nature of the material of this bracelet it was able to keep its shape when sliding onto my wrist. After entwining the clasp together it clasped together with ease using a magnetic clasp.
This bracelet is the perfect accessory for outdoor adventures and holidays in the sun. It would look perfect with that khaki or tan coloured outfit which seems to be making a comeback as we move into Spring/Summer months! It makes the perfect gift for friends and family.
Definitely make sure you pop by The Lifestyle Blogger UK website when you have a minute. Her articles are fabulous and a new one goes live every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday! You can also subscribe to ensure you don’t miss any!

First off, a belated Merry Christmas to you all! I have been enjoying the festive season to the max, spending time with friends and family, eating(!) as well as decorating my first real tree. It’s been nice to have a few days to catch up with myself and to reflect on the year too – something which I explored back in my Achievements and Resolutions post for 2016/17 which you can read here. Back to this one though and I recently wrote about the #APOV Gift Swap. We were each swapped with fabulous bloggers, we shared an idea for budget and a few things on our wish list before hitting the shops. I had a fantastic time choosing for my blogger, The Trendy Orange, and had a great time reading her fashion and lifestyle blog too. In turn she sent be a box of gorgeous goodies which I was so excited to open on Christmas morning!
So what was in my box of goodies? I opened it up to find the cutest little card from Ashley with a gorgeous glitter Merry Christmas. Underneath I spotted the Pusheen Cosmetic Bag straight away. I love anything Pusheen – the cutest cat – so I was so excited to see this. Pusheen has plenty of room for storing all my make up and is so furry. His little face is gorgeous and can brighten anyone’s day!
Next up, I spotted bright pink flamingo paper clips. I love cute stationery especially when it involves animals or fun things. I’ve just created a new desk space to enable blog and writing for 2017 so these will definitely brighten up the space!
The next gift I could smell as soon as I opened the box – a gorgeous Lush bath bomb in the shape of a parcel. I must admit I went in Lush just before Christmas just to smell all the beautiful bath bombs! I also jumped in on the online queue for the sales on Boxing Day and spent my day waiting from 75,000th in the queue! By the time I got onto the website there was nothing exciting left! Do let me know if you grabbed a bargain though!
My final gift was the most gorgeous candle I’ve ever seen. It’s a little pine cone with snow decorating the base inside a pretty glass jar. The most perfect Christmas decoration which I am planning to save until next year as it is far too pretty to light!
To complete the box Ashley included a number of yummy chocolates which I can’t wait to indulge in! You can never have too much chocolate at Christmas – Yum! Thank you Ashley so much for all of my fabulous gifts – even though we have never met the gifts you bought were so special and truly wonderful.
My advice to those who are thinking about a bloggers gift swap is totally do it! It’s such a lovely way to meet new blogging friends, learn about others’ interests and in turn it’s so fun to go out and choose unique gifts for someone.
Happy Christmas and wishing you all a wonderful New Year!

I recently passed my driving test and have bought my first car – hooray!!! It did take me a couple of attempts to pass but it was mainly down to anxiety and not knowing what to expect – so I have given you my top tips to make sure you are feeling well prepared and ready to get on the road!
Make sure you are ready…
I’m 27 so I definitely left it a while to learn to drive but I certainly chose the right time for me. Everyone is different and you may not necessarily feel ready to get behind the wheel at 17 – that’s fine! Everyone learns in their own ways and at their own times so do not feel pressured into driving if you do not yet feel confident and comfortable to do so.
Learn Your Manouveres…
During your test you will be required to complete a couple of manouveres. These include reverse round a corner, turn in the road, parallel parking and bay parking. All of these need practice both with your instructor and privately but you’ll soon get them!
Revise Your Theory…
I passed my theory approximately a year before passing my practical but this meant that I could continue to use my theory more and more whilst I was out on the road. It’s great to keep up on everything that you have learnt in your theory, especially in regard to road markings, signs and the various hazards. Now that I’m driving everyday I’m certainly improving on my hazard perception and learning new things every time I am out on the road!
I often had long gaps between my lessons but it is so much better to be driving on a regular basis when you are learning. This keeps things fresh in your mind in terms of what you are learning and ultimately aids you to becoming a better and safer driver. By building up confidence through regular lessons and practice in a parent/guardians car you are able to cover a full range of skills used in daily driving.
Revise the Show and Tell Questions…
These are so important and you will be asked two totally random questions. Make sure you know all the various buttons and where everything is located under the bonnet. Usually you will receive a book when you start learning to keep track of your lessons, and if you go with a company like the AA they will provide you with a book that contains these questions – make sure you take a read over them and jot down any notes to help you remember as these are great for revising on just before you take your test.
Keep Calm and Positive…
One of the main things that affected me in my driving test was panic and anxiety. This was particularly when I stalled and this was the reason I failed my first test. I made a common mistake of trying to set off in 3rd gear and thought it was in 1st! This panic and frustration is what caused me to fail. If you get in this situation, stop – making sure the car is secure, and think through your steps that you have been taught. Even now I still stall occasionally as I get used to driving regularly but it does start to get more natural! Remember – everyone was a learner once! If you’re like me and have learnt in London, you may well be used to those who are a little more impatient. The trick is not to panic and not to let them fluster you – in the end they are just making it more dangerous for themselves through rushing. Keep calm and have a positive mindset throughout!
Didn’t pass this time – Don’t worry!
It took me a couple of attempts to pass but in turn this has made me a safer driver. I now feel much more confident when I’m out on the road and those extra few practices were worth everything to be able to drive now.
Your Driving Test is just the start!
It’s a daunting experience driving out and about on your own for the first time. I remember being so nervous and excited to get behind the wheel. You’re bound to face lots of challenges. With my new job I have to travel a lot and rely on maps and sat nav – I have lots of stories of ending up in residential car parks and down one way roads but all is excellent practice to make you a better driver.
Good Luck! – Send me a tweet to let me know how you get on @prettyandpetit

A bit of a belated post but I wanted to share the fantastic evening I had at The Polish Bakery Christmas Party!
In early December on a chilly Tuesday evening I was invited to an evening filled with Christmas festivities as I attended The Polish Bakery Christmas Party at 55 Exhibition Road in South Kensington, London. The venue was stunning, with renowned Polish restaurant, Ognisko Polskie located on the ground floor. A sweeping staircase took us up to the first floor where the event was being held.
On entering the room (with prosecco in hand!) there was a beautiful grand piano and we were welcomed by a MD of The Polish Bakery. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly – the room was filled with happy faces! This was, in part, to do with the amounts of gorgeous, delicious food laid out for us to indulge. As soon as one plate was emptied it was refilled with different meats, cheeses, salads and of course, the main attraction of The Polish Bakery bread.
There were so many breads to try from The Polish Bakery and it is the oldest Polish Bakery in the UK. They are truly traditional company using only natural ingrediants imported from Poland to create the authentic Polish flavours. Breads are hand-finished and are a sourdough which tastes absolutely delicious! They have a full range of breads available including poppy seed, rye, half-wheat, sesame seed and sunflower seed. There are also gluten-free breads available which were wonderful to try!
Dessert was an array of beautiful looking slices of cakes alongside sumptuous doughnuts (if unlike me you weren’t already full from all of the delicious bread!) The cakes had lots of gorgeous layers filled with delicious, mouthwatering flavours. There were so many to taste!
We ended the evening with some lovely speeches and cutting of the cake before being handed fabulous goody bags filled with breads and delicious Vienna Cheesecake that was shared amongst my colleagues the following day. A truly magical evening and a perfect way to kick off the festive season!
