Beauty Atelier Shop

If you are looking for gorgeous looking lashes and masterful make up tools I know just the place! I recently came across this stunning online shop, the Beauty Atelier, catering for your every beauty need.

I first discovered the Beauty Atelier on Twitter. They have such a fun feed and their logo in particular really stood out to me, being so colourful and vibrant. After complimenting them on their gorgeous lash collection they sent me the most gorgeous bundle of goodies to try, including fluttery long lashes and make up tools including sponge and face cleanser.

20170420_154303.jpg

I was so excited to try the goodies out. I have not used sponges previously – opting for my trusty Real Techniques brush collection every time, but I must admit after using this sponge for the first time it has truly revolutionised how I do my make up from now on. It gives my skin such a flawless finish which as I am entering into Summer and coming out from hibernation will be perfect for those long Summer days in the sunshine.

To get to my ultimate fave part of the package. The Beauty Atelier sent me a range of gorgeous lashes to try including three beautiful sets of fluttery lashes. Along with three sets of Luxurious Silk lashes. These included #Romantic – perfect for that gorgeous date night, candlelit dinner, #Precious – perfect for that family reunion and making Auntie so jealous that you have lashes to die for and #Glamorous for those nights out with the girls, partying until dawn.

20170420_154229

The packaging was great and shows off the product so well. I’ve found recently that I really dislike that packaging on lashes where you can’t see the full effect of what you are getting straight away – anyone agree? These are great though as they have solid clear packaging so you know they won’t get damaged and you know exactly what you are getting for your money.

20170420_154127

I can’t wait to wear these over Summer alongside some cute outfit of the day looks so make sure you keep an eye on my instagram for upcoming pics!

If you’re looking for lashes for your next girly night out – this is definitely the place to go! At around £15 they are certainly value for money with such a gorgeous texture and a bold, unique look with the addition of a good lash glue they are guaranteed to see you through those Summer parties and outings!

MAC Haul – December 2015

So I know it’s that time of year when I really should be buying prezzies for other people and totally overspending on them. The truth is, I’ve been pretty organised this year – ordering most of my gifts online and wrapping weeks in advance of the big day, so as a congratulatory move I decided to head to MAC and treat myself a little!

Walking into MAC is like walking into a wonderland of make up and beauty goodies. It’s the beauty go to for any make up artist and I am literally in love with it. (I haven’t forgotten you, Benefit and Urban Decay…)

MAC_Cosmetics_logo-1.png

I used to visit the branch in High Street Kensington in London which I loved. It had loads of products and it was fairly empty meaning you didn’t feel so bad for asking the staff to try product after product and they had time to spend talking you through different make up tips. They closed this branch earlier in the year which was gutting and now my nearest is in my local Westfield. On this occasion however, I decided to visit their new branch in Carnaby Street which they have recently relocated. Now it’s so much bigger with ample space for trying products and having demonstrations.

To be honest, as always, I only knew one thing that I wanted to get and that was a lighter shade of the Studio Fix foundation which is my current go to. It provides such a fantastic coverage without being too oily and I always get such fab compliments when I wear it. A cheaper fab alternative is the foundation from W7. This is particularly great in Summer as it’s a little bit lighter, so perfect if you don’t want to have too much on your skin.

Studio Fix Fluid in NW20 – £22

This Winter I’ve become obsessed with the colour navy. It’s such a cute Winter colour and definitely makes a change from wearing black all the time. I recently saw a Vlogger (I can’t remember who) demonstrating a fab navy eyeliner and so have been on the lookout for a navy eyeliner ever since. I found this gorgeous shade, Siahi, in the fluidliner which is a dark navy. I’ll probably use it to draw some cute winged lines to go with my bold new lashes! These will look fab over the Christmas and New Year holiday season!

2015-12-20-14.59.05.jpg.jpeg

Fluidline in Siahi – £16

The last thing I purchased was of course my absolute favourite, glitter! Glitter is my must have in my make up bag and whilst in recent years I’ve been sticking to white and silver, this year I’ve decided to mix it up a bit with this gorgeous pink! I was literally drawn to it in the shop and I honestly don’t know how everyone in the shop wasn’t drawn to it like a moth to a light. It’s going to look so cute over Christmas and I can’t wait to get creative with it!

Glitter in Pink – £17

Have you had any naughty pre-Christmas splurges lately? Let me know in the comments!

Guest Post – Skin Care Secrets from Around the World

So I’m very excited to bring you my first ever guest post! It has been written by a lovely lady, Amy Mia Goldsmith, a literature graduate from Melbourne who wanted to write something wonderful for my blog about skincare around the world. I found her article so interesting and I loved that there were a few tips in there that I didn’t know about including an unusual technique used for healing sunburn and how to get beautiful, shiny hair! I hope you love it as much as I do! Let me know what you think!

Skin Care Secrets from Around the World

collage.jpg

Have you ever wondered how girls in India manage to have such a shiny, thick and tamed hair, or how Korean women get that porcelain skin? Of course, genetics have an immense effect on how people in certain parts of the world look like, but women all over the globe have their beauty secrets that are passed down from one generation to another. Chinese girls have a habit of washing their faces with rice water, in Australia, they treat dandruff with tea tree oil, women in Costa Rica use orange juice to shrink the pores, etc. If you think about it, you can probably remember at least one skin care trick which is typical and unique for your country.

To steal some of the beauty secrets, keep reading.

1. Greece: Olive oil for healthy skin.

olive-oil-cures-acne.jpg

Greek women have long ago recognized the benefits of olive oil for the skin and complexion. Olive oil is packed with antioxidants and vitamins, and it can be used to treat sunburns, irritations and redness. It is also an excellent moisturizer due to its hydration properties. Apply it directly to your skin or replace the butter and margarine in your diet for this miraculous oil. In Greece (and Italy), olive oil is on the menu every day. Greek women massage it into their skin to soften, nourish and hydrate it.

2. Brazil: Oatmeal to heal a sunburn.

oatmeal-in-bowl-with-towels-soap-honey-and-milk.jpg

Oat has strong anti-inflammatory and healing properties that women in Brazil have put into good use. They use oatmeal flakes to ease the pain of sunburn, by tying some oats into a gauze and placing them in the bathtub so that the water running from the tap runs through the bag. This way, all the vitamins and minerals from the oats will be washed into the bathtub. Sit in the water for some time to soak up all the good stuff.

3. Bulgaria: Rose water as a facial cleanser.

bottle-of-rose-water.jpg

Bulgaria is famous for its Rose Valley, which produces a great share of the world’s rose water reserves, and Bulgarian women, who swear by the rose water. Rose water can be easily homemade if you make a tea out of rose petals. What is it good for? Well, everything from hydration, cleaning, revitalization, softening and soothing of skin. It is a natural antiseptic and is a great face cleanser for all skin types.

4. Asia: Crushed red grapes and flour for glowing skin.

health-benefits-of-grapes-131.jpg

The secret of Asian women and their luminous complexion lies in red grapes. They regularly use face mask made from crushed red grapes and flour. Make your own mask by taking a handful of grapes, crushing, or grinding them, and mixing with a couple of tablespoons of flour. Mix it well together, apply to your face, leave it sit for ten minutes, and then rinse it. The mask will brighten your fatigued look instantly.

5. Morocco: Argan oil for just about everything.

argancollage.jpg

The popularity of argan oil around the world is constantly growing. This golden oil from Morocco can be used on its own as a body lotion or a leave-in hair conditioner, or as an ingredient in organic skin care products. It has great benefits for the hair. Increased shine, tamed frizz, and silky trusses, are but a few. Just a few drops of the oil massaged into your skin will make the skin soft and rehydrated. I personally use and recommend Capewest Argan Oil Body Lotion which I got from Peter’s of Kensington.

Will you share some of your skin care secrets with us? Will you start applying any of the above tricks?

Scent City Review

Recently I received a little package of samples from the lovely, Scent City. Scent City offer a range of beautiful, niche fragrances. I chose to receive two samples, Annabelle – Shelly Kyle from the Ms Friendly range and also Early Roses – Teo Cabanel from the Ms Romance range. These are both light and sweet scents and I could immediately tell that they would last all day (which they did!)

wpid-2015-10-08-13.01.10.jpg.jpeg

When visiting their website I loved how easy it was to navigate and instead of just listing the different brands (as to be honest I have no idea where to start when it comes to choosing a new perfume!) they put each perfume under a different personality type under a group called ‘The Urbanites’ which I can only describe at the grown up version of the Mr Men characters! This draws on historically when perfume shopping was more tailored to the individual purchasing the perfume, associating scent to the individual.

The Urbanites included:

  • Mr Classic
  • Ms Classic
  • Mr Sophisticated
  • Ms Sophisticated
  • The Socials
  • Mr Tough
  • Ms Friendly
  • Ms High Maintenance
  • Ms Seductive
  • Dr Love
  • Ms Romance

I thought this was such a fantastic way to group the fragrances available and such a fun way to pick out a gift for someone by according to their personality. It definitely enhances the customer experience.

As these are luxury fragrances they do come with a price tag. The quality of the perfume however is fantastic and the scents are so stunning so you definitely get what you pay for in terms of luxury.

They also offer gifts in terms of jewellery and interior fragrances which will be coming soon. Visit their website by clicking here for more information on the full range.

Do you have a favourite fragrance?

Make Up Review – Natural Collection

Today I am doing my first Natural Collection review! I have never really used Natural Collection before except for their powders so I was excited to try some various products out.

The Products

wpid-2015-06-22-21.25.09.jpg.jpeg

The first product to review is the Colour Foundation. I wore this foundation on a daily basis and it gave me quite a light, fresh coverage which was perfect for spring. I really liked how this went on to my skin and the tinted glow it gave me. It was perfect for daywear although I think I would choose something with a bit more coverage for evening wear.

wpid-2015-06-22-21.23.26.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: Beautify – This product was great for everyday use to provide a fresh look in the daytime on holiday! It was easy and light to apply and I didn’t have to use a large quantity to get the coverage I was after throughout the day.

The next product I picked up was a pale pink blusher which gives me a fresh look for everyday wear before I went onto my bronzer for summer!

wpid-2015-06-22-21.23.52.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: Beautify – I loved the shade of this blusher as it was so subtle against my skin. Again, I would use this as daywear as I don’t feel it is thick enough for evening wear for me but I loved it!

I was looking for a lighter coloured eyeshadow to wear and came across this cute lilac colour. I am a massive fan of anything lilac for summer 2015 so this was perfect!

wpid-2015-06-22-21.24.18.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: Beautify – I loved how easy this eyeshadow was to apply and how soft it was! I thought the colour was really cute and would love to try others in the collection. I think a range of colours would look really pretty all together in my make up collection!

This gorgeous lip liner in Ruby Rose was so easy to apply and with a lipgloss over the top looks absolutely amazing!

wpid-2015-06-22-21.24.41.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: Beautify – I would definitely be keen to try other shades. I was very impressed by the length of wear and the vibrancy of the colour.

So, three things I’ve learnt from trying Natural Collection products?

1) Less is definitely more! These products are so cheap but you definitely get a lot for your money!

2) Perfect for day wear.

3) The colour shades are stunning.

What do you think of Natural Collection products and do you have any recommendations? I’d love to hear them!

I absolutely love these products, but I’m also open to trying new ones and love mixing it up with lots of different brands (although I have been known to splurge quite heavily on Benefit cosmetics as you can probably tell from the list above!)

So this week I’m bringing you MakeUp Academy (MUA) Cosmetics. I found my products in Superdrug and they had an amazing 3 for 2 deal on for all cosmetics – get down there quick if you want to get involved! It’s an amazing offer! I bought a mixture of eyeshadows and primers, both of which are essentials in my beauty regime and also bought a new highlighter which I have pretty much fallen in love with! My reviews of all these products below with a Beautify or Bust review, letting you know my verdict. Let me know if you are loving or hating the MUA Cosmetics range and if you have any faves in the comments below.

MUA Pro-Base Smooth, Set & Prime – £5

Usually I use Benefit’s Porefessional and I absolutely adore it, so for me to step away for a moment was a difficult choice to make! I love the clear simple packaging of this product and I found the difference of it being in a pot rather than a tube interesting. It sits happily alongside those pricier products on the shelves and does a good job at providing a base for my makeup. However, I found I had to use quite a lot of the product to get an even base and my face still felt quite oily after using it. It certainly made my skin feel smooth though after using it.

wpid-2015-04-30-21.48.29.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: BUST – I love the packaging of this product but not overly keen on the scent compared to my current Benefit product. I really like the smoothness of the product though on my skin so would probably use this for every day use however definitely prefer the product being in a tube rather than in a pot.

MUA Pro-Base Prime & Conceal Powder – £4

Obviously, not being a make up pro when I first saw this powder I was slightly confused wondering why I would want to put a bright green and purple onto my face! This baked powder is beautiful and a wonderful addition to my make up collection. It feels so light on my skin too which is amazing!

wpid-2015-04-30-21.49.26.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: BEAUTIFY – I love this product! It gave my skin a nice smooth, matte finish and reduced redness and blemishes. If I wanted to use a primer that was a powder instead of a cream I would definitely opt for this every time! In terms of using it as a concealer, I would most likely use an additional, although it did reduce redness I still needed to use an additional concealer to hide any additional blemishes!

MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in Iridescent Gold – £3

I saw this highighter on Ninkcompoop’s YouTube video review (go check out her videos – I’m addicted!) and literally fell in love with it to the point that I went out and bought it that same afternoon! The colour is absolutely gorgeous, a shimmery gold and the pattern on the powder is so pretty that I want to display it for all to see!

wpid-2015-04-30-21.49.00.jpg.jpeg

wpid-2015-04-30-21.52.05.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: BEAUTIFY – Not having used a highlighter before, I absolutely fell in love with this product. I loved how it brightened up my face and my eyes and the sparkle it provided. I definitely recommend!

MUA Eyeshadow Pallette in Hall of Fame – £4

I absolutely love the colours on this pallette. A mixture of golds, creams, blush, warm browns and dark blues to create a smokey eye effect. This pallette contains some of MUA’s most popular shades ever and I love the flexibility to get creative with it.

wpid-2015-04-30-21.42.43.jpg.jpeg

wpid-20150430_204742.jpg

wpid-2015-04-30-21.54.29.jpg.jpegimage

Verdict: BEAUTIFY – I absolutely love the range of colours available in this pallette, ranging from nudes and golds to blues and black with a touch of sparkle. This is one pallette that I think will last me a very long time!

MUA Merged Trio Eyeshadow in Theatrics – £2.50

Firstly I absolutely loved the name theatrics, this was closely followed by the amazing baked colours. They literally look like planets! It was difficult to choose which trio to go for as there were so many to choose from and they all looked amazing, however finally settled on a mix of purples and golds which I thought would be a perfect combination.

wpid-2015-04-30-21.41.33.jpg.jpeg

wpid-20150430_204527.jpg

wpid-2015-04-30-21.53.36.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: BEAUTIFY – I love the smokey eye effect this trio gave me and the additional sparkle in each eyeshadow. An amazing budget purchase and so pretty!

MUA Brow Define Tinted Brow Mascara in Dark Brown – £2

This product came in a couple of fab shades to choose from depending on how dark your brows are. It was easy to apply and the product went easily onto the eyebrow, brushing gently through. A perfect product for defining brows!

wpid-2015-04-30-21.50.23.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: BUST – I can see how it would be a fab product, and it definitely does stay on and emphasises my eyebrows but as my brows are quite dark already I’m not sure this is the product for me. It made me look quite theatrically angry as the product was quite dark! I think I will be sticking to a powdered product in future.

15. Bohemian Jewellery Tattoos

My featured business this week is… Bohemian Jewellery Tattoos!

logo

Metallic Transfer Tattoos are set to be one of the biggest trends of SS15 and I was lucky enough to test them from Bohemian Jewellery Tattoos over Coachella weekend! I absolutely love tattoo transfers. They give you the flexibility for different designs, are so quick to apply and are completely safe to use.

wpid-20150411_155939.jpg

wpid-20150411_162327.jpg

There are a whole range of different collections to choose from on the website costing £16.95 per collection and I purchased the Zenia collection. Delivery was quick and cost £2.95 which I thought was very reasonable considering the beautiful bubble wrapped packaging they arrived in.

wpid-20150411_165854.jpg

I tested the collection with my sister and 7 year old niece and we had a wonderful, creative afternoon trialling on the different designs included. There were 4 sheets in total and the length of the tattoos meant we could be as creative as we liked so we could create bracelets, anklets and rings.

wpid-20150411_165950.jpg wpid-20150411_170001.jpg wpid-20150411_170111.jpg

It took 10 minutes for the tattoo to originally dry on the skin and a couple of hours for the tattoo to set completely which was what the instructions stated. The tattoos stayed on for a few days and can be washed off with soap and warm water. They would be amazing for a night out or a festival!

wpid-20150411_171556.jpg wpid-20150411_171608.jpgwpid-20150411_172156.jpg

I will definitely be purchasing the Nahla collection which has a beautiful aqua blue in the designs for my holiday this year! I feel the tattoos were definitely worth the price in terms of quality and the amount of tattoos available.

Screen shot 2015-04-13 at 22.05.54Screen shot 2015-04-13 at 22.06.06

I also love the stunning henna inspired designs of the Vandana collection.

7. Glitter Lips

This week our featured business of the week is…Glitter Lips! I absolutely love everything glitter and sparkle so this week is a bit of a glitz and glam week as I review the fabulous Glitter Lips!

Screen shot 2015-01-05 at 20.05.26

I came across Glitter Lips when I was at Clothes Show Live back in December and thought they would be absolutely perfect for Christmas parties, glamourous outings and lots of other fabulous events throughout the year that I may be attending so I was so excited to add this to my beauty collection. Slider_Diamond_in_the_buff After some debate I opted for Cherry Pie – a dark pink sparkle. I love dark pinks and purples and I feel they really bring out my hazel eyes and found it was the perfect choice for me! They have lots of colours to choose from though including golds, silvers and blues so there’s something for everyone! Cherry-Pie-Pot Model-wearing-Cherry-PieWith up to 8 hours wear and a transfer resistant finish, Glitter Lips is party drink, even kiss proof and comes with an attention guarantee. Get ready to sparkle..” – Glitter Lips Screen shot 2015-01-05 at 20.04.51 The process is simple – simply apply the gloss lip by lip and apply the glitter over the top. It was so easy to apply and I easily wiped away at the end of the evening with a make up remover. (Make sure you use make up remover as it doesn’t come off very easily with just soap and water!)
