On a sunny Sunday in Spring we headed over to Windsor for a day trip. It is only about a half an hour drive from where we live in West London and is the perfect setting for exploring and enjoying … Continue reading
Yesterday I attended the #BigBloggerConference! The event was organised by @LDNMeetUp and was held in Hotel Russell, a beautiful hotel in Russell Square, London. Chandeliers adorned the hallways with beautiful decorative mirrors and gorgeous hanging baskets lined the fence to the grand entrance of the hotel.

We were provided with some cute gifts from Ohh Deer and Jelly Belly and started the day with a number of really insightful workshops, starting with ‘Pinterest 101’ in which Elizabeth Sellers, Pinterest UK Ambassador gave loads of fantastic tips on how to use Pinterest with blogging. This was great as I have been using my personal Pinterest account more and more lately. I love looking through the beautiful pictures, gaining inspiration and creating wishlists! It’s fantastic for my blog too as it features a lot of smaller businesses and Etsy shops which I have not come across yet. I’m always excited about what I may find on there. So make sure you keep an eye out for Pretty & Petit on Pinterest soon!

Next up we had a workshop from Jasmin Charlotte, Lifestyle Blogger in SEO. I have to admit, whenever I hear ‘SEO’ I seem to cower a little. I absolutely love social media and marketing – I do it as my full time job! but when it comes to SEO something about it makes me want to run into a corner and hide. It’s just not an area that I have an interest in. Jasmin however changed that yesterday. Through providing fantastic tips and advice she informed us of the best ways in which to aid SEO through our blogs. She noted that content is key and provided useful stats about the optimum number of words to include in blog posts and so on. It was very insightful and it was a fun approach to looking at SEO from a bloggers perspective.
The lovely Jasmin providing us with an insight into the world of SEO.
Finally we had a workshop with Sarah Moody of The Prosecco Diaries in how to monetize our blogs. It was so nice to hear a bloggers perspective on how to do this. It is rare to hear of how much a blogger may be earning but with the rise in blogger and vlogger ‘celebrities’ it just goes to show that if you can put the hard work in you will definitely reep the rewards. I’m excited to take on board some of her advice through consultancy and developing my blog brand. It’ll be exciting to see what the future holds for my little blog!
The lovely Sarah sharing her top tips on monetizing our blogs!
We headed out to have some (really delicious) cake! before heading out for lunch in the park opposite the hotel. As you might recall it was a beautiful 29 degrees in London yesterday and it was so nice to see everyone enjoying the hot weather. I definitely recommend heading over to Russell Square if you are ever in London. It’s close to the British Museum and is such a lovely place to stop and have a picnic. They also have a cute little cafe there that sells sandwiches, cake, ice cream and even prosecco!
We headed back to the hotel for the second part of the day which incorporated an exhibition. This interactive exhibition provided us with the opportunity to meet with brands and see their products first hand! I handed out my lovely new business cards and collated information of the amazing brands that were exhibiting. Brands included:
- Scoliosis UK
- Made by Jade
- The Gifting Lounge
- Look Fantastic, Beauty Expert and HQ Hair
- Designed by Henna
- The Parlour
- Beau Bronze
- Suti Skincare
- House of Fraser
- My Protein
- Bee Good
(Sorry if I have missed anyone!)
The amazing Shoeaholics stand. I absolutely loved their cute cupcakes and check out the leopard shoes on the right! Stunning!
Made By Jade stand. Loved the cute leather bracelets!
The Gifting Lounge stand. So bright and colourful! Such a cute range.
The Look Fantastic stand, full of beautiful boxes of beauty gifts.
Beautiful packaging on the SASS stand.
A sneak A/W preview from House of Fraser!
JewelleryBox.co.uk has the cutest range of jewellery. So many dinosaurs!
The Heaven skincare stand. Loved the packaging of their gorgeous products.
Bee Good with their bee inspired products and cute sweet and savoury biscuits!
There were also ‘tweeting’ challenges throughout the afternoon in which we had to provide tips and our favourite products to the brands we had come across throughout the afternoon. Make sure you look out for some reviews of these fantastic brands in the coming weeks!
The Parlour were offering cute braiding on their stand and how could I resist? These cute braids literally lasted all day and I really didn’t want to take it out at the end of the day. Their salon isn’t too far from me so I’m so excited to go and try them out – especially after reading all the amazing reviews they have received!
Beautiful braids from The Parlour
At the end of the day a raffle was held with proceeds going to the Scoliosis UK charity. I never say no to a raffle and was absolutely delighted when I didn’t only win one prize but two! The first was a lovely gift set from Paul Mitchell and the second was an amazing beauty bundle from W7. I couldn’t wait to get home and try everything out so be prepared for some upcoming reviews soon!

Overall it was a fantastic day and I wish I could do it all over again! Thank you so much to the organisers from @LDNmeetup, including @blonde_vision, @abigail__Brown and @_dreaminpink. You put in so much hard work for us all and it truly paid off. I can’t wait until the next event!

To celebrate the release of Cinderella we visited the Cinderella exhibition in London’s Leicester Square presented by Swarovski. This free exhibition presented both the costumes and the props from the set giving a real behind-the-scenes look into how the film was made.
Cinderella is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year and as a huge fan of all things Disney, and especially the story of Cinderella I couldn’t wait to visit! There were over 100 props from the set and over 30 stunning costumes from the film. The tour was a thoroughly enjoyable, interactive experience, taking us through Cinderella’s home and the grand ballroom. We especially loved the transformation from the pumpkin to the carriage! 1.7 million Swarovski crystals were used to add extra sparkle to the costumes. They also produced the iconic glass slippers that were used in the film which sparkled with a rainbow of colours. There were also beautiful illustrations around the exhibition to show the full design process of the costume creations. The film has also inspired a collection for MAC, including shimmering eyeshadows, pearl powders and nude enchanting shades of lipstick and tinted lipglass. The packaging is reflective of Cinderella’s beautiful pale blue ball gown. Cinderella is in cinemas nationwide now! Becky at Pretty & Petit
My first time at the Ideal Home Show was last year (2014) on its last occasion in Earls Court. 2015 brings a new era to the show as it makes the move to Kensington Olympia. The event fitted the venue perfectly with each zone in its own separate spacious hall, making the show easy to navigate from any entrance.
I usually visit the event on a Thursday evening, which is a bit like late night shopping when the show stays open until 9pm. It’s a nice time to visit as it’s slightly quieter from the day trippers and doesn’t have the weekend rush which means it is far easier to navigate around the event. Make sure you leave plenty of time for your visit though – there is so much to see (and purchase!) and you won’t want to be rushing round at the end!
We entered through the garden section, full of beautiful gardens, inspirational garden houses and beautiful water features. Living in central London currently means we have a bit of a distinct lack of garden but I now feel inspired to fill our balcony with water features, a pergola and a green house along with a hot tub! Maybe I should wait until I have a large enough garden to do that though?!
The food section was our absolute favourite part of the show! There was so much to choose from, everything from Chinese, Indian, Caribbean, Hog Roast, through to Ice Cream and Confectionary! We had delicious chilli and bratwurst German sausages which certainly filled us up! We also had a look around the Willy Wonka chocolate competition – Ideal Cake Decorator of the Year, which had some beautiful cakes!
British Gas, as one of the main sponsors of the show, provided a number of stands exploring sustainable solutions for the home. There was information provided about loft and cavity wall insulation which will be provided free with support from the Government to the 90% of homes that need it depending on eligibility. You could be saving as much as £145 on your heating bill in a single year by having cavity wall insulation. By having loft insulation you could be saving as much as £150. Click here to find out more!
Smart Meters are the new upgrade to how your energy usage is measured. British Gas is currently upgrading properties with this new technology across the country for their customers. If you are a British Gas customer this will mean you will no longer receive estimated bills, as readings will be automatically taken and sent directly meaning you will have a lot more control enabling you to see just how much energy you are using before your monthly or quarterly bill arrives. Click here to find out more!
Hive is ‘the clever way to control your heating and hot water.’ Using an app from your mobile, computer or tablet, you can control your heating remotely so there is no need to waste money heating an empty home again! It also has an optional feature alerting you if you have left your property with the heating on, again saving you money. Click here to find out more!
You can get a full range of Home Inspiration tips and advice from British Gas by clicking here to visit The Source. Helping you to get the best out of your home.
The Ideal Home Show has a number of show houses on display and this year, in true election spirit they had Number 10 Downing Street as one of the houses! It’s amazing to see how they literally flat pack and build these houses into the event. It’s definitely a key feature of the event.
I attend a lot of exhibitions and events and what I found especially good about this show was the amount of stalls and businesses exhibiting. It was though every space had been used productively, partly down to the fantastic displays by the stall holders but also by the company that set up the event layout. It was very impressive!

On Saturday 14th February with love in the air (a belated Happy Valentine’s Day to all!) we travelled to ExCeL in London to visit the annual London Bike Show!
This show, perfect for cycling enthusiasts, also including entrance into other shows including the Outdoor and Adventure Show, Triathlon Show and the Dive Show which meant there was something for all fitness fanatics!
We started off the day trialling a few different bikes. The Boxer bikes were fab and great for parents with children.
We then took a walk round the exhibition which was huge and including so many different bike brands. We even spotted Chris Hoy and the Pinarello that Bradley Wiggins rode to victory!
I am currently researching Dutch bikes as it will be my major Summer 2015 purchase and was so pleased to see a Bobbins stand at the event. I absolutely love all the different pastel colours available and they are so affordable.
Over the day I was also converted into wanting a road bike, especially when I found the Cannondale Synapse bikes (one of which had pink stripes and the other silver glitter!) Despite the colour, the technical aspects of Cannondales are fantastic and definitely something I’m looking to get once my confidence in cycling improves! We also spent a lot of time at the Canyon and Pinarello stands – both amazing bike brands!
Of course, if you are thinking of buying a new bike, like me, you will need the accessories to go with it! For the girls I found two amazing stands – Velo Vixen, which I have come across before at previous events and Bike Belle, Boutique Cycling Accessories – both of which I am planning to feature soon so keep an eye out for more information about these cute brands.
Overall, The London Bike Show was a fab day out and something that the whole family can enjoy. From trialling new bikes, to watching thrilling BMX demonstrations to visiting the many different stands available – a great day out!

On Sunday 8th February 2015 I travelled the (short!) distance down to Kensington Olympia in West London to visit one of the most renowned trade shows on the fashion calendar. Pure London, made up of just over 800 exhibitors – 300 of which are new to the event this February, is a 3 day event which invites buyers and other fashion professionals to see next A/W 2015 trends from brands based all over the world.
I started off the afternoon watching the womenswear catwalk show which had six different scenes. Encrypted, My Street My Way, New Heritage, Streamline, Curated Eccentric and Folk Tales. Each of these demonstrated key trends for Autumn/Winter 2015.
My absolute favourite collection was the My Street My Way collection which incorporated brights and bold accessories into street style. Here are some clips!
Next, I moved on to listen to the presentation “Utilising the power of the blog” hosted by Steve Spear, Pure Talk Editor joined by Jo Stefanicki from The Fashion Parade and Francis Bacon from School Run Style who were both discussing their blogs. Some interesting questions were asked and their stories were truly inspiring!
I then continued the afternoon by heading upstairs to the Accessories and Shoes. I found lots of fabulous brands including some of my all time favourites including Vendula London, Estella Bartlett and Tatty Devine, and some new favourites Little Moose, Talented and My Flash Trash.
Next it was back to the Spirit catwalk show which included brands such as Goddiva and Neon Rose plus my one of my personal favourites Glamorous. I thoroughly enjoyed The Pretty Dress collection too!
I finished off my day by strolling through the Spirit zone. Originally, the priority of my visit had been the accessories and footwear collections but I had felt so inspired by the catwalk show that I wanted to spend some time looking through the Spirit collections. I did not feel let down and found lots of fabulous brands which I cannot wait to share with you all!
