Beauty Atelier Shop

If you are looking for gorgeous looking lashes and masterful make up tools I know just the place! I recently came across this stunning online shop, the Beauty Atelier, catering for your every beauty need.

I first discovered the Beauty Atelier on Twitter. They have such a fun feed and their logo in particular really stood out to me, being so colourful and vibrant. After complimenting them on their gorgeous lash collection they sent me the most gorgeous bundle of goodies to try, including fluttery long lashes and make up tools including sponge and face cleanser.

20170420_154303.jpg

I was so excited to try the goodies out. I have not used sponges previously – opting for my trusty Real Techniques brush collection every time, but I must admit after using this sponge for the first time it has truly revolutionised how I do my make up from now on. It gives my skin such a flawless finish which as I am entering into Summer and coming out from hibernation will be perfect for those long Summer days in the sunshine.

To get to my ultimate fave part of the package. The Beauty Atelier sent me a range of gorgeous lashes to try including three beautiful sets of fluttery lashes. Along with three sets of Luxurious Silk lashes. These included #Romantic – perfect for that gorgeous date night, candlelit dinner, #Precious – perfect for that family reunion and making Auntie so jealous that you have lashes to die for and #Glamorous for those nights out with the girls, partying until dawn.

The packaging was great and shows off the product so well. I’ve found recently that I really dislike that packaging on lashes where you can’t see the full effect of what you are getting straight away – anyone agree? These are great though as they have solid clear packaging so you know they won’t get damaged and you know exactly what you are getting for your money.

I can’t wait to wear these over Summer alongside some cute outfit of the day looks so make sure you keep an eye on my instagram for upcoming pics!

If you’re looking for lashes for your next girly night out – this is definitely the place to go! At around £15 they are certainly value for money with such a gorgeous texture and a bold, unique look with the addition of a good lash glue they are guaranteed to see you through those Summer parties and outings!

Festival Style with La Redoute

Festivaloutfit.jpg

1. Chisuzu Long-Sleeved Printed Bomber Jacket – £59

2. Leaf Print Dress – £35

3. Chuck Taylor All Star, Oil Slick Toe Cap – £55

4. Adjustable Cuff – £15

5. Embroided Clutch Bag – £19

My festival style outfit from La Redoute encompasses a tropical print theme. This is something I love right now – the bright colours and the clashing prints, they look fabulous together! I chose a lightweight dress, as I always enjoy wearing cotton, fun printed dresses at festivals. They are so good if it gets a bit too warm in the sun, and easy to layer up if there is a chilly breeze. My favourite part of the outfit is the printed bomber jacket and it is what inspired the outfit overall with its bright orange with the contrasting palm leaves, it is the ultimate must have to complete any festival outfit!

To add a grunge effect to the outfit I added the Chuck Taylor oil slick toe capped trainers. I love the effect these have on the toe area, definitely something unique! In addition I have added a cute beaded cuff and embroided clutch bag, great for an over body bag or for using as a clutch.

This outfit was created as part of the Festival Style Competition from La Redoute. Click here to find out more!

My Festival Wishlist

Whilst clicking through the La Redoute website I found so many different outfits, from cute dresses, pretty accessories, through to bold prints and bright shorts! Here is my wish list for Summer! Let me know what you love in the comments!

Make Up Review – Natural Collection

Today I am doing my first Natural Collection review! I have never really used Natural Collection before except for their powders so I was excited to try some various products out.

The Products

wpid-2015-06-22-21.25.09.jpg.jpeg

The first product to review is the Colour Foundation. I wore this foundation on a daily basis and it gave me quite a light, fresh coverage which was perfect for spring. I really liked how this went on to my skin and the tinted glow it gave me. It was perfect for daywear although I think I would choose something with a bit more coverage for evening wear.

wpid-2015-06-22-21.23.26.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: Beautify – This product was great for everyday use to provide a fresh look in the daytime on holiday! It was easy and light to apply and I didn’t have to use a large quantity to get the coverage I was after throughout the day.

The next product I picked up was a pale pink blusher which gives me a fresh look for everyday wear before I went onto my bronzer for summer!

wpid-2015-06-22-21.23.52.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: Beautify – I loved the shade of this blusher as it was so subtle against my skin. Again, I would use this as daywear as I don’t feel it is thick enough for evening wear for me but I loved it!

I was looking for a lighter coloured eyeshadow to wear and came across this cute lilac colour. I am a massive fan of anything lilac for summer 2015 so this was perfect!

wpid-2015-06-22-21.24.18.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: Beautify – I loved how easy this eyeshadow was to apply and how soft it was! I thought the colour was really cute and would love to try others in the collection. I think a range of colours would look really pretty all together in my make up collection!

This gorgeous lip liner in Ruby Rose was so easy to apply and with a lipgloss over the top looks absolutely amazing!

wpid-2015-06-22-21.24.41.jpg.jpeg

Verdict: Beautify – I would definitely be keen to try other shades. I was very impressed by the length of wear and the vibrancy of the colour.

So, three things I’ve learnt from trying Natural Collection products?

1) Less is definitely more! These products are so cheap but you definitely get a lot for your money!

2) Perfect for day wear.

3) The colour shades are stunning.

What do you think of Natural Collection products and do you have any recommendations? I’d love to hear them!

Summer Dream Experience

In July 2014, I had to have an operation to correct previous surgery on my right foot. It was an intensive operation which involved putting in a metal plate and several screws to hold my bones and joints in place. (Sorry to those of you who are a bit squeamish!) I had been on crutches since March 2014, and everyone had got used to seeing me hobbling around at home and at the college where I work! After months of waiting and a couple of postponed surgery dates, I had my operation on the 18th July (the hottest day of the year to that day) which meant for 8 weeks – and for pretty much the whole of Summer 2014 – I was in a plaster cast and in a wheelchair. 10580052_10152624419127733_3124860768176669090_n10404190_10152626137337733_6308072091573576827_n My family and friends were absolutely amazing to me. My mum made sure I had regular outings to the sea (my family lives in Whitstable, Kent which is a wonderful place to recuperate!) and frequent visits from friends to keep me company. My cat was a loyal companion too, and spent most of the time curled up with me on the sofa as I watched endless episodes of Gossip Girl and Friends! 10550813_10152637773012733_2822851698225674974_n Obviously I can’t have a whole summer repeated (although those additional warm sunny days would be welcome, Mr Weatherman!) but I would absolutely love to experience some of those memorable summertime moments that I missed last year. My Instagram feed was filled with Summery snaps of beaches, palm trees, beautiful sea and lots of sunshine, and to be able to get a taste of that would be absolutely amazing! 10577133_10152614315207733_3099183660504245693_n A view from Tankerton slopes, Whitstable, Kent. July 2014

As you may have been able to tell by some of my previous posts I love attending events. All types of events from fashion, through to home and accessories trade shows to music festivals, I attend them all year round (as well as organise them as part of my current day job!) I absolutely love music and try to attend a festival every year, however last year was the first year that I was unable to. My absolute dream would be to have a VIP experience at a large music event and if I was lucky enough to get a chance to I would love to recreate some Summer memories. It’s definitely my favourite time of the year with everyone being so happy and outdoors in the fresh air. I literally cannot wait to be able to make the most of it this year! 10361996_10152357214719135_8303000138694305193_n To this day I am still having regular hospital appointments for physiotherapy and my foot is on the mend slowly but surely and I am still keeping a smile on my face! I am due to have another operation on my left foot in the next year and as the condition of my foot worsens over the next six months I know I will have to go back onto crutches. I was on crutches until December 2014, but still tried to make the most of every opportunity I received including a trip to a fashion show and to a couple of concerts once I was back on my (two) feet! I have started learning to drive and I am even signed up to complete Race for Life in June 2015. It will be the first time since 2010 that I will be taking part and am so excited about raising money for Cancer Research UK. I know I will be back on two (pain free) feet eventually and I am definitely trying to make the most of every experience I can! 10384117_10152848346672733_7310162560027830478_n If you had the opportunity to do experience something a second time round what would you like to experience? Why not enter the competition, Second Time Lucky being run by Ocean Finance? It’s open for nominations now for yourself or friends and family and it’s all about giving people something they’ve missed out on. 12. Coco & Sebastian

My featured business is… Coco & Sebastian!

Screen shot 2015-03-16 at 22.29.48

Coco & Sebastian create absolutely stunning printed scarves which are inspired by the travels of Princess Coco and Sebastian. (Read their full story on their website by clicking here.)

I will be focusing on the Spring/Summer 2015 collection in this post but please go and check out all their ranges. Each collection is so unique and their lookbook images are some of the best I have seen! I felt so inspired by them!coco-and-sebastian-london-ss-15-product-info-_Page_2-860x607

The Spring/Summer 2015 collection is full of gorgeous prints including a beautiful frog scarf, an image of a bear and of other insect and beetle inspired prints. The collection was inspired by the Garden of Eden. The colours are beautifully intertwined with the intricate detail of each individual pattern which is what assists in making these scarves so unique. I will definitely be taking one on my holiday to wear on the beach and in the evening. To demonstrate the detail of one of these scarves I have included the frog print below and a couple of additional favourites!

Whilst browsing the website I also came across the new Autumn/Winter 2015 collection. It’s always good to keep a season ahead and I absolutely love what Coco & Sebastian have planned! Their collection is inspired by folklore and I love how they have combined so many different patterns, colours and lines into the print. They look even more fantastic when you hold the scarf up to a window or light as that is when the true intricate detail comes through.

Pretty & Petit visits London Fashion Weekend!

On February 28th 2015, I paid my first ever visit to London Fashion Weekend! I’ve always wanted to attend the event to see what it was like and I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to this time round.

20150228_144345_resizedI met my friend at the entrance to Somerset House, home of the British Fashion Council, on the Strand and we ventured over the cobbles to the large marquee in the centre of the courtyard. This is one of the fabulous venues used over the course of London Fashion Week and is kept in place for London Fashion Weekend which is held for the general public to get a taster.

20150228_145604_resized

First off we collected our limited edition tote bags with a beautiful print from Pringle of Scotland who are celebrating 200 years this year. The bags were filled with products such as Maybelline mascara, a sample of Lavazza coffee, some Garnier facial wipes, Hello Fashion Monthly magazine and much more! 20150228_162114_resized

There seemed to be a lot going on around the event including talks from industry professionals, the opportunity to shop designer labels and emerging talent and various catwalks to attend. There was also a fabulous prosecco bar and a Lavazza coffee shop to relax sore feet from too much retail therapy too!

We attended the Trend catwalk show which comprised of several collections focusing on key trends from The Outnet.com. The trends included Make it Monochrome, Shimmer & Shine, Hyper Florals and That Seventies Show.

I must admit, I haven’t been truly overwhelmed by any of these trends this season. I’m particularly not sure about the 70s trend – for me I just can’t deal with the suede aspect but I absolutely love the flares and I would wear these with a chunky heel. I’ve felt a bit as though retailers are trying to force us into embracing the trend this season and whilst I have seen a few flares and fringing around – no one has taken the plunge and full on embraced it just yet – perhaps everyone is waiting for the Summer? I’m not sure – either way, I’m not quite there yet! As for the other trends I’m a fan of anything floral so this is absolutely perfect. I’m looking forward to getting the florals out in pretty dresses and skirts once Spring has finally sprung! I love the idea of grown up metallics in the Shimmer & Shine collection and have already fallen in love with some chunky heeled sandals in metallic silver from Primark which I will be featuring on my blog very soon! Overall, it was a great insight into the trends of SS15 and it was great to see a spotlight on an online retailer sponsoring the show.

After the show we took a look round the “Shop the catwalk” section of the event which included a range of pieces taken from the catwalk. Some of my absolute favourite pieces are below, all are very unique and particularly stood out to me as one’s to watch!

Did you attend London Fashion Weekend? I’d love to hear what you thought – would you attend next year?

See you on Thursday for a new featured business!
